Seeing the Big Picture

Once you’ve tasted authentic, regeneratively grown and naturally cured foods, which are rare and hard to come by these days, you have a deep appreciation for the natural processes and all it can provide.

Industry veterans Daniela + Chris Jensen saw first-hand the shortcomings of our food system - how it prioritized cost savings and speed over the quality of food. Knowing there was a better way, they and longtime friend and colleague, Sotiris Kitrilakis, set their sights on The Big(er) Picture.

When you sweat the small stuff, don’t cut corners, and work with nature - she gives back abundantly. They leveraged longstanding relationships with small, regenerative farms in Greece and Turkey to build a supply chain that dreams are made of.

Sotiris, an expert on the art and science of fermentation, has made a career perfecting high-quality products (you may know him as the founder of Peloponese and Mt. Vikos). And just like that, Big Picture Foods was born.

With integrity and craft, we’re transforming overly-processed center store staples into fresh, clean ingredient products, and doing our part to create a food revolution. We're part of a bigger movement to bring back a new (old) way of doing things – disrupting industrial practices, exposing false promises and bringing clean, better food to more people.

To see the Big Picture, and get our food system back on track, you have to see all the little details that create it. We believe looking to the past can lead the way to a better future. Which is why we do things the old way. By “things” we mean regenerative farming. Except back then it was just farming. There was no need to regenerate the soil. No one killed it off with pesticides, machine tilling and other dirty words. And we only use natural fermentation. Back then, you’d never put chemicals like calcium chloride or sodium benzoate on foods. Only what nature provides, and we do the same.

Sure it means waiting 9 months to naturally slow-cure but our farmers help with that. Remember our dreamy supply chain? It’s a win-win. Our foods go from field to natural fermentation barrels in hours to give you the freshest, most flavorful, nutrient dense foods available. And our Farming partners grow and ferment on-site, earning more income in doing so. This supports small regenerative organic growers working with nature to maintain biodiversity, soil health and traditional practices.

The result? Better foods. Thriving Farms. Healthier planet.

Again, not a small thing.

In the Big Picture, it’s everything.
